GAFFER FINALLY INVADES GZU

BY Kudakwashe Ngwenyama
Winky D made sure that he did not leave the fans wanting for more when he performed recently at the Great Zimbabwe University opening bash which was held at Chemberi Hall in Mashava.
The Disappear hit maker was long awaited by Gzu students for quite a long time. This was the first time Winky D invaded Gzu and the ‘Gaffer’ as he is known by his fans did not disappoint the fans as he displayed a five star performance. Together with the Vigilance Band, Winky D performed lively and full of energy.
Clad in all white, the Kuwadzana born artiste sent fans down memory lane as he unleashed his full catalogue from his maiden songs. Fans were singing along to tracks such as Godo and Ndiri Rasta. The dancehall chanter wowed the crowd as he combined singing and dancing at the same time. “The Ninja President”, as he is affectionately known, put up an excellent gig.  Winky D engaged the crowed throughout his performance who were singing along to his songs.
The huge roaring crowd sang along as Winky D perfomed his songs from his latest singles collection such as Woshora, Idya Mari. The atmosphere became more electric when   the King of Zimdancehall introduced the hit song disappear which sent the whole hall on fire as everyone was singing and dancing to the song. Winky D’s band repeated the song three times as the University boys and girls kept on requesting for the track.
Speaking to one of the student who attended the gig he said that ‘Winky D performed well and he was energetic on the stage together with his band”. Students were left satisfied with the performance to such an extent that they could not request for more. The ‘Gaffer’ was able to distinguish himself from other artistes who performs badly leading fans to throw bottles and empty cans.
The opening bash was also graced by Judgment Yard Sounds and Dj Kuman who played music before the performance of the Ninja President. As usual the opening bash will be held again this August when new students are enrolled.
