Seven
Great Zimbabwe University students were involved in an accident last week
Friday when they were coming from a night club.
Gzu
students were involved in an accident when they were coming from a nearby night
club around 4am. The students include four boys and three girls. Speaking to
one of the student who was involved in the accident, he said that the driver
was over speeding and failed to negotiate a corner leading to the car to go
off-road. The seven students were lucky to escape death and they were heavily
injured.
The
driver of the taxi was also injured seriously and they were taken to the GZU hospital.
However, because of the serious injuries the driver of the taxi and the
students were referred to Masvingo General Hospital where they received treatment
and admitted. Close sources to the students involved in the accident said the
patients were recovering .
Upper
Deck night club have become the leisure center for GZU students. Every Fridays
the place is jam-packed with students drinking and dancing. The place attracts
many students because the owner of the night club provides free transport to
the club. Also this has caused students to be targets of the miners who
sometimes robs the students.
One
of the students who referred himself as Ras said that “incidents such as these
ones can be avoided if the school had its own bar where students would come and
enjoy themselves without going far”. Sometimes the taxi drivers are there to be
blamed because of their wreck less driving and also driving under the influence
of alcohol.
